Ultra Low Power Sensors


When every microwatt counts, we use the Texas Instruments MSP430 line of microcontrollers.  These are designed with power efficiency in mind.  We also like that the documentation is very explicit, so we know what is going on.  We don't have to assume anything is a black box.  It is a very deterministic microcontroller and works well when programming directly on the hardware without a real-time operating system (RTOS).  We also use Microchip PIC and Freescale Kinetis microcontrollers for designs depending on what the design requires.  We'll work with you to find the right controller for your needs.

Sensor Design

Today we can get a lot of sensors off-the-shelf (accelerometers, gyroscopes, humidity, temperature to name a few), but what if you need something unique?  We design custom sensors.  We work with you to figure out the best way to sense what you want and then find the most efficient way to sense it.


We have experience with M2M (Machine to Machine) and IoT (Internet of Things).  If you need a remote sensor we can integrate a cellular data link or a custom communications link.  We can guide you on what your options are and how they affect the lifetime of your device.

Smart Power

We design sensors that last forever.  First we minimize the power draw through expert circuit design and intelligent controllers.  Then we look at the products lifetime and if we can do that with a battery.  If a primary battery is not feasible, we can add power harvesting technologies (solar, thermal, etc.) to provide the extra energy needed to meet product lifetime requirements.
